What happens during our first meeting?
Our first session is for you to see if you feel comfortable with me, talk a bit about what you would like to address in our work together. I will take an initial assessment, and give you feedback on what I think we can work on, and ask you to fill in a short intake form, with general information such as name and phone number. I will also give you some information about how I work as a body psychotherapist, and answer any other questions you might have about our work together.

How often should I come?
Most of my clients attend weekly, which is usually my initial recommendation. Weekly sessions helps to build relationship and get momentum rolling, but it is not mandatory. We can make this decision together during our first meeting. Factors that might be considered include scheduling, financial concerns, intensity of process.

How long will I need to be in therapy?
That is completely up to you! Some people come to therapy with a very specific focus and goal in mind, and once reached feel done. Others wish to enter into a more long-term therapeutic relationship focusing on resolving childhood issues, relationships issues, etc. I've had some clients come for just one session, and others I have been working with for 2 years or more. There is no right or wrong.

Do you prescribe psychotropic medication? What is your view of medication?
I do not prescribe medication. Only a doctor with a medical license can do that, such as an MD or a psychiatrist. I believe that medication can be a great support to many people and that it should be used in extreme situations to help a person function and benefit from therapy. This is a collaborative decision between therapist and client, and can be discussed if the conditions are appropriate.

Do you accept insurance?
Insurance is approached on an individual basis, since there are many options. We can discuss this during our initial session.

Reduced Fee/Sliding Scale
My regular fee for service is $125 per 50 minute session. Reduced fee/sliding scale services are available for a select number of patients with financial need. We will discuss this during our initial session.

Cancellation Policy
I maintain a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel, but do not do so 48 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the treatment as booked.
